Turkey is host to about 3.5 million Syrian citizens as a result of the civil war in Syria. For these Syrian citizens, our country has given “temporary protection” status. At first, Turkey didn’t reply in an affirmative way to Syrian citizens about buying property. And the reason was, the Syrian Arab Republic wasn’t recognized diplomatically by the Turkish Government. As a result, Syrians couldn’t buy property in Turkey.
There are important steps of buying property for Syrian Arab Republic citizens in Turkey, according to the new developments. The Chairman of Tekce Gayrimenkul Overseas, Bayram Tekçe, expects that Syrian passport holders will be able to acquire property in Turkey depending on the General Directorate of Civil Registration & Citizenship Affairs. The circular mentions that “Within the borders of the Republic of Turkey, authorities demand to remove the limitations of Syrian Arab Republic citizens on real estate obtainment”. Syrians came through obstacles of the limitations of establishing of company or restrictions of property purchasing in Turkey. To provide the property purchase of Syrian customers in Turkey, we have taken over their title deeds. In order to give their title deed of their own, we will invite our Syrian customers very soon. I expect these restrictions will be over in few months.”
